Concur is the worst.

Will this run on 3x 3090s? Or do I need a Mac Mini?

Little Snitch?

This is excellent intuition to have for how LLMs work, as well as understanding the implications of living in an LLM-powered world. Just as useful to adults as children.

How are you going to remember the birthday of that important person?

I'd have already used the year-at-once calendar and put a little photo on their day.

Do you need further instructions?

~/Library/Caches - you can probably delete stuff

~/Library - definitely not

As an example, I have ~/Library/Android/sdk which takes 8 Go.

If I know I do not need the Android SDK, I can safely delete it.

All of those would be so much better if there was at least some way to get a proper error message or status message.

I think for many the key driver behind wanting to slim down the OS isn’t RAM or CPU use. It’s wanting to control their experience of using the computer. If the OS didn’t feel bloated nobody would care if there were 1000 processes that occasionally woke up briefly.

So what makes the OS feel bloated? It’s stuff you don’t need or want pushing its way into the foreground so you can’t ignore it. Notifications and popups are a huge culprit. Best most anxiety reducing thing I did yesterday was turn off pointless notifications like Music showing the name of the new song it’s playing. And used Little Snitch to make sure I’m never getting an update downloaded or nagged about ever again.

If you’re joining a zoom call but don’t enable the camera and only maybe plug in a usb mic - just don’t join?
