Also running Tahoe. Also backing up to SynologyNAS. Also have lost 'many' backup to unknown reasons (was it a new beta? Was it a new OS? , the NAS crash of 2025) whatever.

Also, I don't even have an /etc/nsmb.conf or /etc/smb.conf file on the mac ( Tahoe 26.3)

I think the last time I configured Time Machine for SynologyNAS I followed as many tutorials as I could and basically everything is working for both mine & my spouses machines. - until it crashes & I lose everything.

re: some of my coworkers who are ex-BellSouth complain that working for this company hasn't been the same since.

That would be correct and only natural. I started with Michigan Bell in 1977, went through divestiture, the assembly of Ameritech, then SWBT/SBC. The Bell System / along with Western Electric/Bell Labs was a great place to be. You could spread out the SD's to work on problems and end up talking with engineers/programmers. My bosses went from being in Michigan, to Wisconsin, to St. Louis, to NJ. So, yes, the jobs have changed, the coworkers have changed, the jobs have changed. Plus, we all missed Ed Whitacre when he retired.

Hmmmm.... I can't remember the last time I picked my nose.

Uh, oh. Your memory is going.

I have often thought... "I have an idea; If I search using Google, and not really find anything relevant, does 'google' ever look at everyones 'ideas' and 'send these off to the labs to investigate further for possible patents? How would you ever know?

I'm putting on my tin-hat now!
