Just step back and ask yourself what each side of that debate is trying to achieve and why. What is motivating them? Why are they motivated in that way?
Don't just recite what you "know", think, look, research, figure it out. It might sound good to have a one-liner like this in your back pocket, but do you really believe it after looking at the publicly available information that it is their real intention to conduct a "crusade to destroy the internet"?
Advertising funds large parts of the open internet. Killing ad means killing independent content creators for example.
Over-regulation and censorship like "chat-control", that only benefits big players like Amazon, Meta etc. is what kills the internet.
We have RUINED the food industry. It started with gig-work delivery. Restaurants will never recover from GrubHub and ghost kitchens. Food quality and service died years ago.
Now, they don't have to pay for or manage delivery people, or pay anyone to make their menus for them.
There are no consequences to lying. People have a bad experience sure, but they'll forget next time they order off grubhub and simply search for "burrito near me" and click on the first good looking food.
Oh we aren't really planning to. This was purely a vibe coding thing for fun. I mentioned I wanted an airport simulator similar to another game we both play. He started vibe coding one. So I started vibe coding one lol. His was in straight up dotnetcore, mine in unity. We got interestingly far but both kind of slowly let it go, they weren't high quality.
Google splits with the creator 50-50. If you got paid $1000, so did Google. And given their hosting infrastructure, network, and other tools, I would say it's a miracle they don't charge to upload.
Of course. Maybe not successfully but a "virus" is just software. If it runs software, it runs software, full stop. Maybe the same APIs are not available or behave differently, so it may be buggy or non-functional, but that's true of Half-Life here too.
I doubt it based solely on that there are multiple interviews including from one of the paper’s authors. Given that Veritasium is a very well known channel at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they were contacted instead and then roughly coordinated the timing of the paper and video release together.
I very much disagree that it's coming. I think we need to completely reset our expectations of how the market works. There's been nearly an entire generation working in this "new" bull market, where things like EPS mean absolutely nothing and speculation no longer requires actual returns.
It’s unfortunate, but this exact sentiment precludes every market crash. Just before dotcom burst it was the same thing. Technology will change everything the nasdaq will continue to grow in the technology age, etc etc. eventually the chickens come home to roost as they say
It did though. Look at it now. The crash was incredibly short lived, and if you try to point it out on a graph of the last 30 years, you won't be able to find it.
