Lunch is paid?

The time is paid, not the kibble...

Tech salaries in West and South Europe indicate that there is no shortage.

Huh? Salaries in tech are lower in south europe than in east europe. Assuming there are any tech jobs in south europe.

Lazy imports are not supported with tRPC, making serverless functions heavy which results in long cold starts.

Another scam is that the 1h lunch is not paid in most parts of Europe.

Like in Switzerland it's not 42.5h week but actually 47.5h if you include the unpaid lunch. When I tell this to a British/Canadian/American they are kinda surprised.

What are the reasons to bring people to san fransisco in the first place and deal with immigration problems? Why can't startups just use a payroll provider like deel and have a semi-global team?

I think there are legal limitations like IP and compliance for some industries that make it tricky.

That's right. But many U.S. companies in fact do use Deel and similar platforms to employ contractors living abroad.

At least founders team often can't be semi-global. A lot of VCs simply wouldn't bother working with you if some people on your board are not from US and it's even worse if someone live in some developing country. For them it's too much risk.

Yeah we get them too in Switzerland.

2016 is not very new

Probably as much as the 3 year difference is the fact that Facebook made and evangelized React. I know I didn't hear about Svelte until 2018-2019, but I knew about React within a few days of its release.

Actually, that's very old in frontend years.

Also PostHog

We have non-tech leadership (it's sales).

We also have too many decision makers. We also have too bad and always changing requirements/spec.

Yet we double every year because of pmf and a solid core product.

I think what to work on has also a big impact how productive (measured in $$$ instead of slocs) a team is.

1600/wk is hella a lot.

How often are you on call.. the whole week Mo-Su?

Usually week rotations but it varied heavily between teams.
