The gigantic task of maintaining and developing a mobile OS that needs to retain compatibility with AOSP/GPS anyway to tap into the huge amount of applications that are available?
It will cost a lot of money and as long as Google is still doing regular AOSP code drops, what's the point?
I wonder if you can delete your entire existing history to sort of reset the recommendation engine? i've definitely had to delete individual ones from my history to downrank similar ones in the past.
The mobile apps will be fine. The shutdown will affect the PWA/web access and also the "desktop app" such as Windows or macOS.
If you have a FB account, then that URL they give will work in your web browser. If you don't have an FB account or you deactivated it, and you only use Messenger, the mobile apps will be the only way forward.
