Yes, it turns out that the game gives you a selection of letters, like Scrabble, to fill in all the text fields shown. You get the 500 error if you leave the text fields blank. It would be nice if the site gave a JavaScript alert instead of submitting the form with invalid input.
I know it takes quite a bit of effort but one of the things I'm really drawn to about any startup/site is if they have a video explaining how the process works.

That is of not much use to the user. By blacking out the whole page, users are now forced to read about the Reddit's stand against SOPA and PIPA which people might miss if Reddit follows your suggestion. Even people ignorant about SOPA and PIPA will read this and get a clear understanding about it
