I'm getting the following message "500 Internal Server Error

Sorry, something went wrong.

A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation."

Do you give up in between?

Yes sort of. I would previously be able to shut everything out and just code for hours. But now I just keep taking longer breaks from coding: an hour turns into two hours ...etc and then a day is gone.

Get away from it completely for a couple months or weeks. Take a job in construction, or writing, or something entirely different. Refresh. You'll probably naturally come back to it later.

But developing the algorithmic thinking also takes a lot of time and practice. So ideally, what would be the best way to balance them both?

You're overthinking it. Just program a lot, experiment with algorithms, read well-regarded books on both, and both will come.

Balancing on the turtle would be a priority for me

The UI is pretty amazing. But why do the body tags appear empty when I see the view source?

Thanks! The front end uses Backbone.js so most of the content is rendered with Javascript. The backend uses Rails as an api which on page load sends along a barebones html doc for Backbone to latch on to and work its magic. You can check out the source code on GitHub - https://github.com/jendewalt/yumhacker

Thanks Jennifer. Btw, how did you manage to build 180 websites in 180 days. I mean what was your inspiration to conquer the streak?

I wanted to learn to code but I'd never really done any coding before. I came up with the 180 websites idea as a way to start really small and stay motivated. It wasn't always easy but I had a blast and learned a lot.

Taking a quick look at her JS file shows that she's using backbone.js.

The user-experience is not good as compared to the previous HN Search. I couldn't figure out that the filters were located underneath the search bar initially. Also, the thumbnail doesn't look good for me as I'd prefer the compact view where I could see more search results in my screen. Lastly, I'd prefer using a contrasting highlighted background color for search text instead of having them bold, as it should be more distracting so that it strikes into the user's eyes when he searches.
