I think your example of "if we tax them they will leave" is off-base. Because that is absolutely, most certainly, the case.

are you making an effort to not understand?

If N billionaires don't pay tax, their tax is zero. the state makes zero. period.

Now the state tax them and two leave. The state now collected N-2, which is immensely more than zero.

How is it smart people are so gullible to fall for the opinion pieces you shared!?

I wonder if it just makes sense for them to sell them. Might be more profitable than running them against competition?

Neat website, the visualization is great. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the tokens/s thing but this made it easy.

Sad to say that it's a LOT of places. Lots of lakes, rivers, etc... it really is a tragedy.

Used to visit this lake a lot when I was a kid, now it's unrecognizable to me:

I _believe_ i've been having some connectivity issues related to this. Where the site acts like it's down but you refresh the page and it works. The solution is to disable the HTTP-3/QUIC toggle in Cloudflare. Some discussion here: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/page-could-not-be-load...

May not be related, but it might. It only recently started happening to me/our sites in the past couple of days.

Aren't there a few utilities for that, like caffeinate, etc?

`caffeinate` is primarily designed to prevent sleeping due to inactivity. It doesn't prevent sleeping due to lid closure while on battery.

`sudo pmset -b disablesleep 1` (0 to revert) works, although it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Man, I used to play this game a ton.... and the throw the banana game that was written in basic and came with DOS.

BeOS was the best looking OS I've ever seen, even to this day. I loved everything about the looks.

Legitimate question: For these data centers that are wanting to go into water scarce areas, why not use the cooling methods that don't waste so much water. I know they are more expensive, but if they need the data center there that badly, use a different cooling method.
