Presumably, the location tracking is just a variant of the Wi-Fi-based positioning systems commonly used today.
Whereas the system is normally used to provide a device with its location, here it's used to track the device's location. This requires having a network of Wi-Fi access points sharing data.
I was apprehensive at first, but it's as solid as it is sleekly designed.
In the past two months, I've logged more than 500 miles with it over rough city roads, the occasional pothole, and some off-road terrain. I've even taken a spill with it. Not once has it come close to failing. And yet, it only takes a second to get the phone on and off.
The kit comes with four rubber o-rings: two small, two large. I think you're only expected to use two (whichever's the best fit for your bike). But I use all four: the small ones straight across, the large ones diagonally. Works great.
As for the case, I've never used one in the past, preferring the feel of a naked iPhone. But the QL case is thin and nice enough to the touch that I don't bother removing it. I rather like it now. The kit also includes a water resistant (but still touch sensitive) cover, which has worked well for me in the rain a few times.
So yeah, I'm a huge fan. I've actually ordered a second one for my other bike.
1) The demo session is separate and optional. The last thing I want to do is make the angels, particularly the prospective ones, feel captive. But for some, it will whet their appetite.
2) It's an opportunity to get some non-TechStars companies in front of an interesting crowd of investors.
3) It might actually be interesting to some of the angels coming in from out of town who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to see these companies.
That said, I should make it clearer that the demo session is entirely optional.
Fair points, I hope people stick around for it. If nothing else, it gives them experience in the sort of pitches they might be getting, once they put their name out there.

I can say that if this had the double-intention of functioning as marketing for Betahouse, it definitely worked on me. I have every intention of keeping track of your events, etc, from here on out.
We're (currently) at a fixed number, BUT we are hoping that other people soon spin off their own Awesome Foundations (in a barcamp like manner). We'll be in touch though soon.
