The expendable email addresses in iCloud is a sleeper feature. I use this to limit the use of my personal email on services and help cull my email spam for one off uses. You can set which email address the expendable email is associated with, currently linked to my gmail. While not perfect, an enterprising person created "iCloud Hide My Email" extension for Firefox so I'm not tied to Safari on my phone and can integrate it into my workflow on Fedora.

I agree with this approach. I used to always have hardware no more than 2 years old and were med-high to high spec. When I helped troubleshoot on my families and extended families devices and internet connection I saw how normal people suffered on slow systems and networks. I since operate on older devices and do not have gig internet at home every web and app designer should have to build or test with constraints.

I work with secure pdfs at work quite often, and yes Edge randlomy try to open pdfs. Sending me to reset the pdf handler to an external app or force a download and then open app, point to file, open.

under my breath...another worklfow broken grumblegrumble and time added when I did not need it grumblegrumble, how do I force a change/automate, more time lost grumblegrumble

Sounds like you thought this through, Firefox welcomed contributors

Something tells me if someone opened a pull request to rewrite 90% of UI, it wouldn't get merged.
