The highest NASA's budget has ever been as a percentage of the federal budget is 4.5% during the Apollo program, totalling 650b nominally over the years. Saying anyone here now has paid "plenty" of taxes to nasa sounds … disingenuous at best.
In this context, surely the whole point is that we could have taxed Musk’s wealth instead, so we have collectively paid whatever amount we didn’t tax him.
A bit less, definitely, but not zero. The US government has paid billions for use of SpaceX launches since it was founded. One could argue that the spending on NASA has benefited the world much more (e.g. free NOAA climate/weather data for research, etc) vs just increasing the wealth of privateers.
Every time this comes up I find myself so angry that we cant have a truly circular approach with legally mandated standard sized containers. Put labels on the damn things to market whats inside. You could even do the same thing with plastic utensils. This profusion of package sizes and shapes is the true insanity.
I went down a rabbit hole looking for something I could take now that would influence this pathway and came across a study suggesting a particular flavonoid, cumaroyl, might work; if I'm interpreting this right it appears in ginko leaves, so I'm going to see if they have any effect.
Except if she had a clotting disorder as indicated that might make her bruise and get edemas with much less trauma and say she fell on her face/chin, all of those could happen comparatively easily. I don’t know what happened here and thats the point.
Just for fun - does this sound like what the remnants of ancient genetic engineering experiments on primates to increase their intelligence might look like to anyone else?
