Interesting take at the end, I wouldn't necessarily call it a Win about AppleCare coverage, it only highlights all sorts of issues which are becoming increasingly common on Macs. Logic board and full unit replacements should not be commonplace.

While stumbling upon different articles, I came across this video on YouTube of a guy in Shenzhen, China, that can replace the internal 16GB storage with a 128GB capacity NAND, so it's highly possible that a modified version of this is what's been done to the iPhone.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=198&v=2bGb5AOwp4...

There's no doubt that the FBI could arbitrarily edit/replace the contents of storage, the trick is getting it to boot after that. That's why they wanted Apple's cooperation to sign code or hand over the code signing keys.

this is so cool, don't understand why you get downvoted. I thought we are in hackernews.

I don't even understand why this was necessary, with both my and my husband's employer in Nevada, I am able to get a discount on the cell bill plus I get to claim my cell phone bill for taxes. To us, at least, seems fair already..

Which also begs the question – why was his posted on HN in the first place?

They're still running it.

Why was this posted here? What's the relevancy?

I stick with .pdf files

However, that might be bad practice.

With Adobe Reader it's probably even worse, to be honest.

For the past few years I've been using Chrome as a PDF reader (I don't use it as my primary browser, but have it nonetheless). I'm not saying Chrome can't be vulnerable... it's just good to get rid of such pointless software as PDF reader. Especially if the case is the bloated Acrobat Reader (though I think the UX was great with that one).

I expect a comment like this on Reddit, not HN.

Ok and who will pay for that?

Yup. Retail stores and banks as well. There's plenty of large institutions that are using XP for day-to-day operations.

And people wonder how "easy" it is for those darn hackers to "steal info." It's easy to steal from a house with the door wide open.
