This article doesn't mention the large number of illegal immigrants in the United States. To what extend does this affect income inequality? A large supply of unskilled labor would tend to keep wages lower.
Maybe the US should keep the unskilled labor market tight(er) and then wages should rise.
Does the US have more illegal immigrants as a proportion of it's population than other Western nations? I'm asking because I genuinely don't know. (I was tempted to put quotes around illegal immigrants because it's a fairly contested term but that would have possibly set the wrong tone)
I do get the sense that every country thinks they are a special case with regards to immigration. We definitely seemed to go through that phase in the UK.
I missed how Trump is a homophobe. Seriously, is there evidence for this or is it just a general insult thrown out when someone does something you don't like?
yep, it is a general insult our tolerant left is throwing at someone they don't like. standard multiple choice - racist, sexist, homophobe, antisemite, islamophob, child molester, hitler, nazi. or just downvote anonymously.
>This is exactly what the Tea Party did (with tremendous >help from Koch brothers) in last eight years. They >unseated the old leaders and took over the party.
Do you have a link showing where, "they took over the party"? My understanding is that the Tea Party is a minority faction within the GOP.
Pay attention to the 2010 primary races that happened within GOP. There were also some high profile races where the Tea-party/Traditional-GOP split even caused Dems to win some seats (like Christine O'Donnell in Delaware)
After that cycle, mainstream republicans mostly co-opted the movement and the rift wasn't that evident in successive elections.
Him having had a lightning talk at DEFCON, having attended conferences like CCC, having many prior dealings with law enforcement thanks to his email service and many people of interest using his service might have something to do with it.
I highly recommend having a look at the transparency page, it includes audio recordings of phone conversations with the FBI and more. Fascinating stuff if you are interested in how law enforcement works. For example, handling an NDA request [1].
Start working on Tor, LavaBit, Wikileaks or any other technology initiative the Government sees as a risk, and see what happens. Alternatively you could also start acting as a publisher of leaked Government documents.
>"The Tor Project included the U.S. International Broadcasting Bureau"
>"As of 2012, 80% of The Tor Project's $2 million annual budget came from the United States government, with the U.S. State Department, the Broadcasting Board of Governors, and the National Science Foundation as major contributors" [from wikipedia]
If you are in the US State Dept. and were associated with Tor do you get stopped at the border because of that?
You've got it wrong; it's the regressive left who convicts people of thought time. In "MAGA land", you're free to piss the left off in defiance of their byzantine schemes of political correctness.
CBP are known to be resoundingly pro-Trump. It was a great example of perverting their authority to discriminate against views they don't like.
The next step will be to mark NGOs as having 'foreign influence'. Pretty soon RT'ing Amnesty International or the EFF will exclude you from government or sub-contractor employment. Just look at what happens in Russia.
What about some of the interesting domain names in the list featured on his website ? Some might tip off someone in a federal agency to have a look on the guy.
Same here. I travel (lots) with laptops and lots of loose electronic gear (boards, cables, JTAG probes). I'm actually surprised how never once have I been harassed or put through any special screening. I've noticed them taking some extra time looking at the stuff in the X-ray machine, but that's all. This is on international as well as domestic flights.
First a pizza place in the Rust Belt won't cater to a hypothetical gay wedding and now this. I guess that Pizza is the new front-line in the culture wars. Pretty sad in my opinion. That said, if there is a war, I hope Domino's and Pizza Hut don't make it. They are the true villains of Big Pizza.
