They haven't yet made languages other than JavaScript first-class languages for the web - https://hacks.mozilla.org/2026/02/making-webassembly-a-first.... I wouldn't call this a broken promise, but it was something people were hoping would take less than a decade.
I could never figure out why people would rather install an app than visit a web page. Many apps are just containers for websites that give the app more permissions than it needs.
That's an interesting curiosity. Why not ask them? There's an extremely high probability that someone you talk to on a regular basis has shopping apps installed. Hey! We could do some research, maybe write a paper. But first, you gotta ask them.
There also exists a pesky fourth amendment that should protect people from laws like this but unfortunately it doesn't have the industry and lobbing that the second amendment has.
lol yeah at first I was annoyed that they seem to be applying pressure on people without the history feature cause they certainly kept recommending videos to me even though I had that feature off. But a few weeks ago, the screens are all blank imploring me to turn on the history, but I actually quite like it. No more youtube doom scrolling on my phone.
