Whenever I read articles like this about a small country that finds a rare resource I can't help but think about playing civ 5 in late game and finding out that I have a ton of uranium on my land.

The infosec aspect of this whole event has been fascinating to me. That tweet from that guy in Pelosi's office with the computer with her email open was pretty shocking. Every company I have ever worked for enforced the pc auto locking after 10 min or so of inactivity. Its unbelievable that the Capitol doesn't enforce this.

I just don't see Fuel Cells winning at this point. Primarily because we have yet to find a way to create hydrogen fuel without using natural gas.

While I can understand WikiLeaks position, I feel like it was incredibly short sighted and uninformed of them to release the code itself. Unless you believe that they are working with the Russian (and other?) governments to destabilize the west. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.

My impression was hat the Shadow Brokers already had, or were about to release the tools which Wikileaks ended up leaking. Regardless, these should've been disclosed to the manufacturers under Obama's policies.

I would be curious as to the agenda of these "Shadow Brokers" it all sounds very Gibsonesque. Recent events have made Neuromancer seem more and more prophetic to me.

They were hackers who acquired a trove of state secrets and were looking to make a quick buck. I've linked an archive of their initial statement below. I think it speaks volumes about how far the NSA can be trusted that these people were the ones to leak the tools instead of a state actor or someone previously known.

that's pretty heavy. life imitating art for sure. thanks

We made this in the past few weeks. Uses node.js, express for the back end. Twilio for all the telephony. AWS for hosting and logging. Compose.io for Mongo DB. React/Redux front end.

I really hope that legislature passes that invalidate these TOSes. Farming is hard work and they shouldn't make it harder for people already scraping by in some cases. I think where their TOS makes sense is for corporate farming where a larger corporate entity has to manage a fleet of these tractors. Unfortunately, John Deere does not make any distinction on their licensing based on who is using their product. I think it's time to send John Deere a... Dear John? :P

earth SIZE planets.

I am glad that this article isn't saying "haha they beat tesla" in any way. Though I think they do miss out on one point in regards to Musk's "cleverness". The way that Musk commodified the electric car made everyone want one, much like the iPhone when it came out. Tesla car's spurred the EV revolution. Tesla's are appealing to many who want them and can afford them but what they have done is made clear that the EV (or 0 Emission Vehicle) is the vehicle of the future.

Tesla doesn't care that much if they get beat to market, in fact I would posit that the more EV's come to market before the Model 3 the better (for the world anyway). The iPhone was always an iPhone and many (not a majority) people have one, however over time all the other phone manufacturers decided to go with Android (as it was open source) and made their own phone, now they all fight for supremacy in the phone market. All the various androids have a way bigger market share than iPhones but the important thing is that we had a smart phone revolution. Most [read all] phones are smart phones these days and all cars will be electric cars soon.
