Do you have any more details on how you designed the site? I see that it was in framer.

Yooo, founding designer here.

From a technical perspective, building it on framer was pretty easy, though, it has some limitations with more complex SVG imports. I mirrored the Shadcn global.css color variables from the portal on the website for a more consistent vibe. Definitely recommend that.

From a design perspective, I wanted something radically simple, with taste. The narrow width visually demonstrates simplicity at a glance. I love narrow sites. Instinctually feel amazing. The double dashed borders will eventually turn into “flowing” lines. Which is a Flow of funds reference. We also worked with primary studio to help us choose some colors, typography, and patterns we’ll likely introduce later.

Hope this helps!

Who determines the standards for Authentication? Is there a main working group?

It is somewhat split.

Cryptographic protocols are often defined in IETF/IRTF. You'll see things like Kerberos (authentication and attributes), OAuth (delegated authorization), and privacypass (anonymized authorization).

Many of these also have wire protocols too, such as OAuth describing HTTP API to get access tokens.

W3C has also defined some Web API for these concepts, for instance they have Web Crypto APIs as well as Web Authentication. But these concepts typically have split responsibility, such as Web Crypto being based on algorithms standardized in the IETF JOSE group, or Web Authentication being based on transports standardized under the FIDO Alliance.

So things tend to happen where they will be most successful, which means sometimes going to the place where all the right people are already participating.

The W3C?

Hah, I was not expecting that one.

This mode of transport is very similar to how people ride Jeepney's in my country, the Philippines. I didn't see anything on how it would pick the routes, but I can tell you that it can get pretty smelly in there without windows.

Jeepneys are great though, I hope this mode of transport catches on.

Which reminds me of this article - https://medium.com/swlh/self-driving-cars-should-be-tuk-tuks...

Which reminds me that one concern with the Cruise vehicle is that, understandably, it looks as if it's heavy and built to US passenger car safety standards.

Whereas a tuk-tuk or jeepney designed exclusively for slower speed urban travel could be built sub-500kg which would be better for pedestrian safety and energy efficiency.

(Of course, especially in the US market, there are other factors that go into consideration, such as the perceived or real need to travel in 30+ mph mixed traffic, the need for large batteries that allow a high utilization factor between charges, etc.)

I thought of “tuk tuks” in the Phillipines and Thailand, Vietnam etc. when is saw this!

Thank you for what you and your team do. Is there anyway I can help contribute to your organization?

Thank you so much for asking! Naturally, part of why we wanted to share this with the broader community was to make it so interested people can jump in and help out in the open. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the fact that we’re hiring! [1]

Pretty sure this is the US flexing their new (or old I guess) drone tech.

This is great! Thank you for sharing your experience.

I have a couple questions with your notes about politics.

Could you expand on what you mean when you say "fall back to first principals"?

"If politics thrives due to team of company culture, switch" Could you expand on this if possible?

If you cannot disrupt a perverted culture by introducing a new culture, the politics of the perverted culture will work against you until you break, align, or leave. It is not unwise to leave before you break and it is easier to leave before you align.

Thanks. "fall back to first principals" is inspired by this post:

I'm sympathetic to your situation. However, after looking at your post history I see you were in a similar situation in Thailand during 2017. How did you get yourself out of that situation? Is it possible to follow a similar approach?

You should take what others have said about the embassy as a serious option. That's what they are there for.

How does the VPN work?

I've met this guy. I used to live in Subic in the Philippines. I always thought he was a drunk that was lying about his past. Teaches me...

Tell us more! That's very interesting. Little quotes and details are fine, no long form journalism required :)

Yes, do tell...

Please tell us more :)
