Maybe try this? I have great results on the ios keyboard by simply making two changes to the keyboard settings. I turn off auto-correct, and turn off slide to type. I made this transition when they first introduced slide to type, as that setting changes the touch algorithm to prefer where you lift from vs where you tap initially, or at least that’s how it felt. I also have turned off predictive text because I never use it, it’s faster for me to just type out the words than it for me to watch the predictive text.

Yes? Not like we can prove one way or the other.

Amazing how often people do that. Corporations have very little incentive to be truthful and often have good reason to be dishonest. I notice it particularly wrt video games, gamers are always taking studio’s messaging as gospel and not corporate comms.

I see this all the time at work. Folks treat their relationship with employer like a personal relationship. Be loyal to company and it will be loyal to you. But everyone lies. Your managers will stab you in the back and throw to the ditch anytime they can gain something from it.

One needs to only witness an exec team or board meeting to realise that loyalty as a concept doesn't exist at the top for the vast majority of companies. You're 1.8% of the accounts department budget, or 0.02% of the head office budget. Which is looking a bit high in the face of our projected earnings this quarter. Best get HR to trim that by 10% to free up some cashflow for sales and initiatives. Actually, make that 20%. Bonuses were a bit thin last round and I need a new yacht.

Gaming companies can be pretty stupid at communications honestly.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Battlefront_II_(2017...

And with Elon Musk! If he says we're going to Mars, then we're going to Mars. If he says full self driving next year, we're getting full self driving next year. He said that every year for 10 years? So what?

Power seekers acquire power, not knowledge seekers. This is from Plato’s The Republic so about as old as it gets.

(X) Doubt

I think people should be allowed to be noisy.

Getting sick isn’t just life or death.

My parents both got measels, and they had no hesitancy getting me vaccinated. I’m significantly taller than my dad, who lost 40 pounds when he got German measles when he was 17. I grew several inches that year.

People who don’t get vaccinated are bad people. I have no qualms saying it.

I don't think this is a great argument. The reason is that Rubella/German measels is in the majority of cases very mild, in many - people will not even know they had caught it. If you take a large enough sample you'll absolutely find people winning a lottery that they really don't want to win, but the exact same logic is used to by people to avoid vaccinating. For instance the MMR vaccine can cause all sorts of nasty things in extreme cases, but in the average case it's believed to be mostly harmless. Though of course we're always discovering new things about medicines. There's even new side effects in e.g. tylenol still regularly being discovered and published about.

I upgraded to a 16 pro from an iPhone SE 2. Things I noticed:

Pros:

Better screen, cameras and build quality. Like way better. The glass on this phone is durable enough to not use a case and I don't. After beating it up for a year, its looks and works great. The build quality of this device is bordering alien.

Face ID is very nice. Touch ID does not like my skin.

I like the magnetic accessories and MagSafe.

Visual intelligence is actual quite useful for helping to identify stuff. I’m a curious person and actually use it.

Having flashlight on the action button makes it feel like a tool. I use the flashlight virtually every day.

It’s nice to not have my phone lag, which was a problem for the SE2. This phone is very capable, battery life is much better too.

Cons:

I have had more camera crashes on this iPhone than any I’ve ever had on a new flagship. Less than on my dying SE2, but the camera should not crash on a new flagship. It’s mission critical equipment in my book.

Camera crashes? Never seen one. How did you do that?

I have no idea. A wild guess is that it might have to do with my setting option that preserves the last camera mode on re-launch, but I was never able to replicate a crash. I have not gotten a camera crash since I upgraded to iOS26. It only happened a few times, but once is too much.

The only issue I have with the camera now is that under low light conditions and fog, it will refuse to focus on a distant subject unless I cover the LIDAR.

> you have no choice but to give it to them

There is always a choice.

Yeah this whole thread is absolutely filled with prudes as far as I'm concerned. Everybody poops, get over it.

I think you're mistaken sir.

I myself, me... Am descendant from a long line of arms that ascend from misty lakes depensing royalty on the form of moist scimitars.
