so if it's availible for free, it's okay?

No, and for the same reason.

leaves the question: how much authority do these models posess, see also: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/21/technology/google-surveil...

i have not followed the topic since it's not my cup of beer, but what is the legal stance on hentai with characters that are depicted as under 18 (or whatever age of concent is relevant)

edit: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_fictional_po...

I like how they use the loophole of "oh she's a 200 year old vampire in a child's body, so it's not actually a child".

Most likely illegal under the PROTECT Act. It would have to be ruled obscene under the Miller Test (which most material considered hentai probably would).

may i introduce you to the jurisdiction of germany? 7.5m for personal injury, 1.3m for property damage and 50k for ?financial loss? (ger:reiner vermögensschaden) [1][2]. granted that's in euro so exchange rates are to be considered

edit: as a point of comparison, i can't find it at moment but i think i remember my last car insurance was covering 100m for personal insuries

That’s amazing, the US plays around in $10k to $50k ranges.

out of curiosity: how much are you guys paying per month? i had, at that moment, 7 years of no accidents and the 9/1999 version of [1] and was at ~25euro/month

[1] https://www.adac.de/rund-ums-fahrzeug/auto-kaufen-verkaufen/...

$50 per month for $500,000 of liability only insurance for 5,000 miles per year. Since it is only liability insurance, the type of car I have does not matter.

I have 20 years of no accidents or insurance claims.

I assume countries where healthcare is covered more extensively, such as Germany, have lower premiums? Although, I think Germany is health insurance covered healthcare, so I wonder if a German health insurance company would sue the auto insurer of an at fault driver to recover healthcare costs. In that case, it would be similar to the USA.

interesting, in germany model of the car, the expirience (age) of the driver and the years of not having your insurance cover something [1] play heavily into the amount of premiums you are paying. also who is "covered"[2] by that insurance and the km you drive in a year are considered.

[1] trivia: because of this sometimes people cover damages, even realtivly high ones, out of pocket because it saves them money in the long run. [2] you say who (only you or more people) is driving the car and in practice the relevant fact is if one of the drivers using the car is under 25 and/or is still in "Probezeit" (?trial period?)

Not hypocritic at all. From a legal perspective even illegal made money is money made and therefore subject of taxation. Tecnically you even have to describe the means by that you have come to it. Otherwise you are commiting tax evasion. For example if you sell 100k worth of access to documented child abuse, you have to pay taxes on those 100k. Thats why you have to launder money made from illegal activities

You wouldn't even need ML. Iirc there was this guy who coded a script that played every permutation of 12 notes in a 5 minute period and then made all the Melodys public domain. Ianal so I don't know if this would hold up in court, but technically that should invalidate every copyright on Melodys after that point in time.

E: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJtm0MoOgiU&t=135 found the ted talk

Since there is little to no creative input in merely enumerating permutations, I don't think he has a valid copyright to waive. But the fact that the data set exists might sway a judge or jury away from upholding copyright claims on trivial excerpts of other works.

>we need to ban boron/phosphorus

FTFY

chuckles in german

Edit: to add value to the conversation: in germany I find googles estimates on long car trips quite accurate. And I'm actually a very erratic driver, sometimes taking every hole in traffic I can to get ahead, just slowing down to speed limit+20km/h where there is a speed trap, sometimes just cruising 80km/h on open autobahn getting overtaken by cargo trucks

> chuckles in german

FWIW, Advisory speed-limits on autobahn are similar to the western US statutory speed limits (130km/h == 80mi/h). That being said, 200km/h and no other moving violations would quite possibly get you thrown in jail in "The land of the free"

Merkel was reelected because there was no feasible Alternative. She is a good politican with proper experience and Connections especially on the international stage, But her politics is as shit AS the rest. One of the reasons why right wing parties are on the up. Think of her as the equivalent to biden. The only thing she has going is that one can assume with certainty she is not gonna fuck shit up so hard, but there are certainly better ways. Fun fact: merkel actually announced she would not be up for re-election in 2021.

technically he didn't call him a goat fucker, he said calling him a goatfucker is illegal. which it is, wether or not the one being accused of being a goatfucker is a leader of a country or not. it's called "beleidigung" and can be prosecuted under http://dejure.org/gesetze/StGB/185.html as long as the recipient (or his/her commander in millitary or <supervisor> in the church) goes to the authorities and delclares that it should be prosecuted ("strafantrag"). i go dakor with the (currently) most upvoted post it's smart from mutti (merkel) to "allow" it, because of diplomatic relations, when in fact she doesn't have a word to say in that. she can allow or forbid everything she wants, but as she is part of legislature and executive, ?judicative? can do what they have to and don't give a shit what mutti says

I do not know why this is downvoted. It is correct.

There is a very important context to the 'he called him a goat fucker': The - admittedly very crude - 'poem' he made is embedded in the context of basically explaining what the German law is about, and what you can not say.

There is also another part of history: Erdogan complained about another, earlier satire show on German TV. Boehmermann was referencing this and the earlier attempts of censorship by Erdogan, and basically said 'look, we could call you this, but we didn't, we just clearly expressed our opinions and this is our freedom of expression here in Germany'.
