i hope the volume control can be disabled (though i doubt this will be the case). i’ve never met a touch sensitive headphone volume control that wasn’t susceptible to accidental triggering. i have too many issues with my hearing to risk that.
I hope so too. I disabled touch controls on my WH-1000XM3 (the over the ear type) because an accidental swipe would rewind or skip to the next item (e.g. videos on YouTube). When I have to adjust the earbud version (WF-1000XM3) it's really easy to touch the controls on accident as well. Even the Airpods Pro that I have can be touchy when adjusting because they have sensors to pause when you take them out and resume when you put them back in (great feature) but they also sometimes pause (or unpause) incorrectly depending on the situation. (I just realized that is an option that can be disabled so I'm torn about disabling it now. Single click does pause and unpause as well.)
i’ve used SwitchResX for years to create/use custom resolutions. though i don’t have an M1 mac (on order now). maybe that’s another way of achieving this?
SwitchResX I think is different. It is superior in a way that it creates additional display modes which macOS then can use as a native resolutions on Intel. On M1 the problem is that it can only create scaled resolutions and even at that cannot create HiDPI resolutions if the display reports itself as sub-4K. This is due to an inherent limitation in the M1 driver implemented by Apple, not the fault of the SwitchResX developer. I was a SwitchResX user for many years on Intel macs and was dumbstruck when after replacing my Intel macs with M1 I found out that I cannot use my displays as I used to.
BetterDummy simply navigates around the whole problem by creating Virtual Displays that are mirrored to the main display. This is in one regard inferior, since this is inherently a workaround but on the other hand can work on-the-fly and all possible resolutions are instantly available and accessible via System Preferences/Displays.
How long until this surveillance attitude leads them to add permanent monitoring into all Apple products, like Notes, iMovie, Messages, etc? That’s one thing this move points to.
I wonder if FB ever offered or considered letting users link without previews (e.g., choose a word or words of their post to become the link text). It would defuse the way users scan headline/preview/image on the feed (instead of going to the publisher and reading the content). Not sure Australia would have accepted this but I believe it addresses some of their concerns.
You can, unless I am misunderstanding you. When I paste a link the preview pops up and I can hit the traditional (X) in the top right to remove it before posting. It will display the URL in text as a link without a preview.
This appears to only be required for inbound passengers. I wish it was also required for outbound. I not only want to prevent more COVID from coming into the country, but also want to increase the chances of my outbound flight being COVID free.
