Good question. It looks like the rate at which more qubits are needed is slightly less than that for the time requirements. (So still under 50M qubits total, vs 20M for 2048 bit integers.)

They also say later on in the paper that, given certain constraints, it should be possible to use multiple quantum computers with fewer qubits per computer - at the cost of a slight increase in the total number of qubits.



So it would only take 10,000 D-Waves? That doesn't seem right.


I think D-Wave systems are all annealers, while the paper's about gate-logic.
