Priorities of electrical grid clients in US?

In the UK, there is a low frequency demand disconnect (LFDD) scheme to cut off components in the grid in a prioritized order to handle generation supply shortages. This is to provide hospitals with electricity longer than refrigeration, etc.

Is there an equivalent of this scheme in the US? If so, what name does it go by and what types of heavy industry volunteer for low priority?
