As a free speech fan I think that's the perfect solution. Give people the ability to block things they don't want rather than blocking people saying the things they want to say. Of course the way it's used come could cause problems but if done well it's a great idea.


The purpose of this service isn't giving people the ability to block things they don't want to see, but to block things they don't want other people to see. Instead of censoring they make a tool to censor. Children of abusive parents end up being victims of such tools.


I worked for a draconian company that blocked pretty much everything. Even github got banned and special request to be made monthly to reopen it. They had regular banners on their front page lauding LGBTQ interests, but I still think they will be sad that they won't be able to block this category.
