The original study of the Bare-nosed wombat was produced by a 15 year old boy, Peter Nicholson, who in the 1960s used to sneak out of his boarding school dormitory of a night to crawl into wombat burrows and make friends with the wombats. He used to "speak wombat" to them and his scientific paper is still cited.
