I think you're looking at this the wrong way. If the customer / manager want to get into the weeds with you, you should let them. Information sharing leads to good things.

Giving the customer/manager details about the work required for a feature will help them better understand and prioritize future work. If you and your team are excellent, going into the technical details will impress the customer/manager and gain you the respect you are looking for.

On the other hand, if you are defensive and withhold information, that will only erode trust and push them away. Eventually, they'll look for someone else to work with.

As a side note, scrum boards are stupid. What people really need are dependency trees.
