It doesn't matter if you get a perpetual license, the companies that host the data themselves are ephemeral.

I do the opposite -- I rent everything, and expect it to be a rental. I have never been disappointed.



That's fine if the price reflects the value of it being temporary, but often they are selling it at a price that only makes sense for it being perpetual and also label it as such.
