Some of the proposed substitutions, especially the view switcher, use opaque and tricky CSS, the sort of stuff that would show up in mailing lists of CSS hacks in the past. The equivalent javascript code would be much easier for almost anyone to read and debug.

Maybe there's a market opening for a tool that compiles javascript to CSS. :shrug:
