If there are serious health implications of some food dyes, I don't know how you can make a "but my freedom!" argument against it. Doesn't feel too different from everything around Radium Girls. If we know of something that is dangerous, I have no problem stopping it as an endorsed thing. See also, leaded paint and asbestos shielding.
