Without warning, they want the following to unlock a "temporary restriction on purchases". Nothing has changed and they didn't notify about anything. I have 2FA and a very long password on my account. Unless they got hacked without telling me, I have no idea what's going on.
The information they want:
- Billing information about me including physical address -> I use one of the brand payment processors I don't want Valve to have and sell my information. Because once they have your information, it's no longer yours.
- A phone number -> I don't want them calling me, I don't want them correlating me with other customer data sources, and they don't have phone support.
- Other information that's already listed on the account pages
Again, I see this as a waste of my time and a privacy risk I'm not comfortable trading.
What's your experience with Steam's customer experience and support? Is it always this terrible? Do you avoid them?
