This feels like a very physical example of the general anti-tech malaise that's happening (and been happening for a few years). What happened to the excitement? The pro-tech, futuristic, excitement that used to be present in even larger tech companies seems to be gone. Internal chat systems have become negative places where, for example, any positive talk about AI immediately gets turned to the negative consequences. While those conversations are important, they seem to be sapping the energy from everybody that's excited. It seems to be endemic to everyone but the smallest startups. Market conditions, layoffs etc, obviously don't help but this has existed for quite a few years now.

What happened is companies have been using technology against consumers in every possible way they could.

Being angry at the technology is like the dog being angry at the newspaper that is used to beat it. (Although I’m sure the dog knows what’s going on, but that’s a different discussion)

There was a discussion on this yesterday: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39333081
