Based on the article, I'd advise keeping proximity bias in mind when making your choice. Unless one is a superstar whose value is obvious to management and colleagues, it seems better to work from office to overcome proximity bias which will hurt your perceived performance assuming all else same.
Obviously, some people will rationally prefer no commute or bigger homes etc, which is okay as long as one is cognizant about the cost they are paying.
