Isn't cargo cult used because some dudes were using cargo pants? That's how I always understood the concept. TIL that there are other etymologies to it.
Dunno if you were kidding, but either way: That's the first I've ever seen of this having anything to do with clothing. (Unless you count the bamboo-and-grass headphones as clothing.)
