This does make sense to me but thinking about my own experience playing games there is definitely some component of playing them to feel busy as well. Depending on the kind of games you enjoy, you might turn to them precisely because you feel productive accomplishing a sort of endless cycle of goals. You mine to craft and you craft to mine. On some level I know that this is wasted time, but at the same time who plays games where it feels like they arent accomplishing anything? I don't know how to reconcile the differences between the archetypes explained here especially because it does seem like gamers often lead trends tech (never forget why gpus are as good as they are).
