Microplastics Are Everywhere (duke.edu)

Had a thought, if microplastics are everywhere how has plastic contaminated past and current scientific experiments?

In some cases it is a known problem (outgassing and particles in physics experiments), but what about in chemistry and biology in general? A lot there seemingly relies on various plastics as a neutral material. If it’s not neutral, if plastic microparticles get everywhere…maybe a lot of scientific results need to be re-evaluated? Any studies done with teflon in equipment for example, though perhaps PFAS is more of a concern there than microplastics.
