Peter Hummelgaard, Danish Minister of Justice, in an interview about Chat Control, remains defiant:

"I indisputably believe that surveillance creates an increased sense of security ... and given that the prerequisite for freedom is security, yes, I believe that more surveillance equates to more freedom"

By that logic, East Germany was full of freedom.


Aren’t politicians excluded though? Don’t they also want the safety and freedom?

That could be true in a perfect world, where people and systems executing the surveillance are perfectly capable, respectful, honest and accountable, forever.

But in a perfect world surveillance is not necessary anyway: that kind of statement is just fallacious rhetoric.
