What specifically did you find messy? The initial setup or GUI/UX? It's been quite a long while for me, so I couldn't be more specific for you. My recollection is that it was very complex, that's really all I've got.

I just setup a local Gitorious install this weekend. Really nice to see this planned advance in the UX.
