I don’t thin you are providing much of a perspective. People are notoriously bad at estimating what the budget is spent on.

In any case, dismantling the TSA would be about as effective as dismantling NASA in reducing the deficit: Not at all.


You're correct in that it wouldn't help the deficit, but it sure would reduce the cost of airplane tickets (the TSA is funded through a $5 per segment "September 11 Security Fee" added to each ticket.)


I'm pretty sure the airlines would just keep prices as they are and pocket the extra $5 per ticket. :)
