I love Ruby, but I have to agree with this. Scala is the language I'm slowly moving away from Ruby for. I describe it to people who love Ruby but haven't used Scala as "Ruby with types, that you don't need to know about". It's obviously A LOT more, but I've found using Scala and JRuby in conjunction is an amazing combo.
